FOREWORD

The First Gobal Conference on Cardiovascular Clinical Trials and Pharmacotherapy was held in Hong Kong, China from October 1-2, 2004. This meeting had incorporated the 2rd World Heart Federation Global Conference on Cardiovascular Clinical Trials and 13th International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy Congress. This meeting provided a gateway for scientific exchange among scientists and physicians from different parts of world on cardiovascular clinical trials and pharmacotherapy.
In the recent decades, there is a significant progress in the understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The conference has provided an update on recent findings on cardiovascular clinical trials, which is the cornerstone of good practice of evidence-based medicine, as well as advances in new therapies derived from the most recent drug and therapeutic discoveries.
The purpose of this proceeding is to summarize some of the selected materials that have been presented in the Conference such that interested individuals can obtain in-depth of review these presentations. It is sincerely hoped that this proceeding will provide a concise overview on recent updates and practice of cardiovascular therapies.
